A Short Background to the IntelliMentoringtm Model and System

Mentoring, Coaching, and Performance Delivery have been integral to the life of the Model's creator, Chris Leach, for over 30 years.  In business and in sport he has applied various practices, methods, techniques and learnings to help businesses and sports teams improve their performance.

In 1992 he became more involved in formal Mentoring programs and realised that many (most?) of them had the following traits which limited their effectiveness:

  1. They were uni-dimensional, and did not integrate with the organisation's goals
  2. Their delivery was as if it was "just another course", or program, and not part of a System
  3. They did not provide a good, clear Process for Mentees and Mentors
  4. Their Content, while often good, was not customised to suit each organisation
  5. They paid little or no attention to the Context in which to operate effectively, and
  6. The Attributes or Skills required by both Mentor AND Mentee to make the partnership a great success were poorly described, and even less effectively taught.

As a consequence of this research he devised the concept of Intelligent Mentoring© and the IntelliMentoringtm Model.

Our Beliefs that Predicate the Model

Philosophically, we believe that Mentoring is a systemic methodology to improve many and various elements of a business, and is most successful when employed for the medium to long term.

Therefore, Mentoring, Coaching, and Performance Delivery are all inter-related and are part of any organisation’s search for excellence.

Further, we believe that Mentoring is Multi Dimensional – requiring customised attention to the dimensions of Content, Context, and Process – as illustrated by the Model.

Within these dimensions are specific, trainable, Attributes required from the Mentee and the Mentor to make their relationship successful as they progress through their evolving Process. The Model explains and facilitates this process.

Finally, we believe that Mentoring is a Customised system and program, unique to each organisation’s style, environment, and needs.

If you accept the above principles, you should find them as integrated elements in the IntelliMentoring™ Model.

An Invitation for you

Read about the IntelliMentoring Model in this site, and view the 6 levels that a Mentor and Mentee progress through in their journey.  The levels are described in the pyramid diagram.

Read about how you can apply the Dimensions of Process, Content, and Context, to customise your Mentoring program and system.

Then, increase your understanding by looking at the Model through the eyes of a Mentee or a Mentor as they move through the pyramidical process.

If you like what you read, email us for our free Mini-course as a trial for you to experience one of our manuals.  The mini-course describes the Dimensions, Attributes, and elements in more detail and provides an insight into how you might go about designing your own unique mentoring and coaching system.  For your copy of the Mini-Course please Contact us.
